Toshiba International Corporation Pty Ltd has signed a 15-year pre-lease with Australand for a 9,000sqm corporate facility at their Winston Hills business park in Sydney’s North-west.
Toshiba has committed to a 2,800sqm office headquarters and an adjoining 6,000sqm production and warehouse facility at 11-13 Gibbons Road near the M2 Motorway.
They engaged David Black, Director of Rook Salinger to manage the project and arrange the transaction. Mr. Black commented “The new headquarters will be built to a high specification with a main office floor plate of almost 2,500sqm providing an impressive entrance statement to the estate”. The facility will incorporate a raft of additional features including high power requirements for the commissioning and testing of electric motors and associated equipment. The design includes a number of environmentally sustainable design features with the ability to install solar roof panels at a later date.
It caps off a near two-year search by Toshiba for new premises following the imminent redevelopment of their current site at Morton Street, Parramatta into residential apartments. The move allows Toshiba to consolidate various business units currently housed in separate tenancies into a purpose built state of the art facility.
Toshiba was attracted to the location because of the ability to retain and attract a highly educated workforce nearby, easy access to both the M2 and M7 motorways, dedicated bus lanes and amenities at the nearby shopping centre.
At the same time, Australand will undertake construction of an adjoining distribution facility for Australian Geographic, which will complete the development of the estate.
Mr Black commented that “It was gratifying to achieve a long-term commitment from a global brand such as Toshiba with what was a technically demanding brief."
